Our new friend from New Zealand said that my soup was the tastiest thing she has eaten in Mexico. As she lived in Mexico D.F. for 5 years, I took that as a huge compliment. Of course she may have just been kind. Jim said that he tried some soup without salt, cheese, and lime, and that the condiments definitely made the meal ;) Chef Josue also liked it, but now I will attribute that to cheese and lime, as well :)
We cooked pineapple and mame (um, it tastes just like papaya, but it isn't...) over the fire in some butter. I scored a new frying pan for Jim. His is thin and also has a hole. Our friend, Abraham, gave me/ us one from the maintenance shed that is much more durable, and slightly larger, but has lost its handle. Nothing that a bit of corrogated cardboard can't fix in a pinch ;)
My friend and neighbor, Debbie, remembers the bicycle incident... Gladly this crash was minimal. The worst casualty was my new pair of pants; but after they make it through my personal Mayan laundry service, everything will probably be back to perfection. The other day, I was lounging around at 7 AM and drinking coffee while I chatted with one of the laundry men. He said "You know, I did not iron those pants..." I was like, thanks, I've never ironed them... but I felt embarassed. They take better care of me than I do of myself.
Debbie, the lady from New Zealand is delightfully like you. You even share a haircut. And, she wore a turquoise shirt to dinner this evening :)
